Searching for Me in All The Wrong Places:

One Woman’s Journey to Finding
Connection, Healing, and Me in Her Mess.

Searching for Me in All the Wrong Places is an autobiographical dramedy that follows Greta’s quest to reclaim her life. Trapped in a job that is both spiritually and physically draining, she feels stuck with no clear way out. As if that weren’t enough, a family crisis plunges her into even deeper turmoil, heightening her struggle to find herself.

In the grip of an eating disorder she hides from her husband, Greta’s weight drops to dangerously low levels, leading to her admission to an inpatient treatment center following a breakdown. Despite believing that therapy—both the decision to seek it and finding the right therapist—was pivotal in healing childhood wounds, especially the ones from her birth and adoptive mothers, she is realizing that something is still missing. Her cry for help is still unanswered.

Although she’s made progress, Greta feels perpetually lost and continues to search for a deeper sense of self.

Worrying Freta, People-Pleasing and Co-dependent Fawn, Inner Critic and Ultimate Disciplinarian The Viper, the resilient Granny Grit and Tara the Tara-Pist.

It poses the question of whether Greta will succumb to old habits or find the strength to embrace her worth. Will she learn to listen to her inner loving voice and believe she deserves to take up space, or will she be silenced by her inner critics and disappear into her past struggles?

This solo journey navigates a difficult past marked by adoption, childhood trauma, sexual abuse, and mental illness, all while sacrificing her self-worth to the number on the scale.

Searching for Me in All the Wrong Places delves into the transformative power of connection, the hope of recovery, and the profound peace that comes from rediscovering one’s true self. Featuring a blend of multimedia, storytelling, and Sara Bareilles’ music, the show introduces vivid characters such as Disassociation,
